Located in the midst of Pepiliyana, this plant filled fabric manufacturing factory office is an interior project of an existing space on the third floor of a conventional factory building.
The internal plan is divided into two by the central entry way and foyer which is encased in a luscious green environment providing its visitors a preview of architectural motif the office holds.
The southern end of the rectangular plan, houses a showroom, two office cubicles, a meeting room and a staff toilet. The northern side, is an open plan office allowing the employees to collaborate and exchange ideas.
Carefully curated to its users of the Austgrow Office, plants were used as a primary design element in order to improve the air quality, efficiency and comfort of the staff.
Low-Energy-Green spatial infill and internal vegetal screen were used in order to demarcate workspaces and acts as a backdrop to each individual space. This enhances the spatial quality of the workspace and permeability of the office. Plant troughs were introduced on the East and West accommodating various indoor plants that were meticulously selected according to the light intensities and the sun angle that prevail in each space. Raw finishes, pinewood furniture and accents were coupled to tie the concept of the design.
The Austgrow Office boast its use of nature additionally through the green external façade on the East. The low-hanging vegetation on the exterior allow the nature filled aspect to develop as a brand identity for the future of Austgrow and a model office of Sri Lanka.
